Great places to take your dog in Barcelona

You want to bring your dog along with you to Barcelona? You are not the only one! Barcelona is a very dog-friendly city and has some great places for you to discover along with your furry friend.

The Casamona dog Pepsi knows the best spots around town!

PARKS

Barcelona has some beautiful parks to offer that are the perfect balance to the busy streets. Whether you want to go for a stroll or let your dog run off-leash, these large green spaces provide gloves and bag dispensers to pick up after your dog, as well as fountains where they can drink.

The Parc de la Ciutadella in El Born is Barcelona’s oldest and most popular public park, featuring a large, monumental waterfall. The large area is great to give your dog some space to run around.

Joan Miro Parc in Sant Antoni (C/ d’Arragó): The variety of trees in this park is outstanding. One of the sections in the park has a library surrounded by a pond.

Park Güell: Barcelona’s gem with Gaudi’s modern catalan architecture is a must-visit and great for you to enjoy with your dog, too! Some parts of the park can even be entered for free.

Parc del Turó: Not far from the famous Güell park, this is a spacious and less touristic option for your dog, while it has the same spectacular views of the city. You will definitely meet other animal owners there as well.

Anella Olímpica: This is the site of the 1992 Olympic Games and a meeting point for many dog owners. Enjoy the scenic view of the mountains at the horizon while your dog is playing and making friends.

Parc de l’Estació del Nord: Enjoy some artistic work in this park, where you can let your dog loose in off-leash areas. There is also a small café.

Parc de la Barceloneta: It’s located just by the beach and the tipu trees make it a nice and shady place for you and your pet to rest on a sunny and hot day.

BEACHES

During summer, you can take your dog to the beach only in the early mornings and late evenings. However, there are some areas where you can enjoy a day at the beach along with your pet.

Playa de Llevant: This is the closest place from the city center. The beach has a small section where it is allowed to bring your pet.

Playa de El Masnou-Montgat: This is a real dog-beach made of fine sand and is about 400 meters long, so it’s great to let your dog run alongside the sea. To get there from the city center it takes less than an hour with public transport.

Playa de les Salines in Cubelles and Cala Vallarca in Sitges are dog beaches too, although a little farther from the city center

ACTIVITIES

The organization Feel by Doing offers unique and sustainable tourist experiences and events in Barcelona and Catalonia. The section „experiences with your dogs“ offers activities such as „pet friendly“ beer or wine tasting, guided tours, kayaking or farm visits.

If you want to take your little friend on a fun daytrip outside the city, visit Aquapark Perros al Agua, a water park in La Roca del Vallès. It is made specifically for dogs, with numerous facilities, training courses and water games. It is open from June to September, and you pay only 2€ to get in.

WALKING ROUTES

While the parks and beaches are a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, you will also find many people walking their dogs on these scenic urban trails. Experience the spirit of Barcelona with its most iconic architecture and sights on Passeig de Gràcia, the promenade in Barceloneta, the Passeig de Lluís Companys with the Arc de Triomf, or the avenue of Gran Vía, with a broad pedestrian walkway in the middle of the street.
