4. Food

However, when people think of Barcelona, the first thing that comes to mind is tapas. Walking through the Catalan capital, it seems that every other storefront is a tapas bar, with some streets being wholly dedicated to them. It would take a lifetime to try every single one, yet rambling along these streets buying a copa at each is one of the best experiences in the city. 5. Art

Barcelona is of course the famed home of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. The Sagrada Familia alone is worth coming to Barcelona to see. But the still unfinished cathedral is not the only way Gaudi contributed to the city. His beautiful designs are dotted all around the city, from La Pedrera to Park Guell. And Barcelona’s art scene doesn’t end with him. The Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA), is a cultural hub highlighting Spanish modern artists and the Joan Miro foundation shines a spotlight on the other well known Catalan artist.
