Why Moving to Barcelona Should be on Your Bucket List
Why Moving to Barcelona Should be on Your Bucket List
Explaining why moving to Barcelona should be on your bucket list is an easy task. It is a breathtaking city that has so much to offer. A quick holiday is nowhere near enough time to take advantage of it all. That’s why moving to Barcelona should be on everyone’s bucket list. Here are the top five reasons you should move.
1. Neighbourhoods
First thing’s first, Barcelona is a city known for its diverse neighbourhoods. From the beautifully authentic old city, to Cerda’s innovative urban planning, Barcelona has something for everyone. Find hidden gems among the winding streets of Raval, Gotico and Born. Independent cafes, clothing shops and bars are waiting for you around every corner. Cerda’s chef d’oeuvre of Eixample opens your eyes to another side of the city. Its wide streets are perfect for ambling down, shopping in its high end boutiques and having a coffee in the shade.
2. Weather
Barcelona has some of the nicest weather in Europe. Winters remain mild while summers are sunny and warm. Eat outside on the famous terrazas all year round, the best way to take advantage of the beautiful weather as well as the wines and foods Barcelona and Spain have to offer. With beach temperatures extending from May till November, you’ll be able to take full advantage of the Mediterranean Sea that’s right on your doorstep.
3. Location
Talking of the sea, Barcelona and its surrounding areas have no shortage of stunning beaches. Along the coast, you will find quiet, solitary places perfect for relaxing in the sunshine, as well as packed beaches complete with beach bars, where you can both see and be seen.
On the other hand, Barcelona is only 2 hours from the Pyrenees, giving you the option of ski weekends during the winter and fabulous hiking during the summer. From canyoning to horse riding, there is a vast array of activities to do as well as nature to explore.
4. Food
However, when people think of Barcelona, the first thing that comes to mind is tapas. Walking through the Catalan capital, it seems that every other storefront is a tapas bar, with some streets being wholly dedicated to them. It would take a lifetime to try every single one, yet rambling along these streets buying a copa at each is one of the best experiences in the city. From the traditional to the avant-garde there is definitely a tapa for everyone.
5. Art
Barcelona is of course the famed home of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. The Sagrada Familia alone is worth coming to Barcelona to see. But the still unfinished cathedral is not the only way Gaudi contributed to the city. His beautiful designs are dotted all around the city, from La Pedrera to Park Guell. And Barcelona’s art scene doesn’t end with him. The Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA), is a cultural hub highlighting Spanish modern artists and the Joan Miro foundation shines a spotlight on the other well known Catalan artist.
This is by no means an exhaustive list. There are infinite reasons for you to move to the stunning city of Barcelona. So why not just do it? And Casamona International is here to help you find the house of your dreams.
