Foreign investment continues despite Catalonia Referendum – Casamona News
23st annual Barcelona Meeting Point:
This past week saw the 23th annual Barcelona Meeting Point (BMP) fair took place with more than 16.000 visitors over the 4 days in Catalonia’s capital. BMP is the only professional and international real estate exhibition in Spain. It provides visitors with a wide range of networking and investment opportunities. Also, the foreign investment continues despite Catalonia’s Referendum for independence.
According to Marieta Cavero (BMP communications), although the number of visitors was lower this year than in previous years, the quality was still of a high level with those attending very interested in making deals. In 2019, 150 speakers did more than 50 presentations which doubled the content. This year the main themes were sustainability, accessibility and women in the Real Estate market. But there is so much more to learn during this event!
The foreign investment continues in Catalonia:
The interest shown at the BMP this year, is not the only positive thing to emerge for the Real Estate market in Barcelona post-referendum. In fact, the US company Värde Partners has now finalized the purchase of 52.000 square meters, located in the area of Parc Central, for 50 million euros. The funds company has more than $50 billion invested worldwide. They will be building office buildings and houses on their newly acquired land.
The political instability of the past few months has been a concern for those wanting to invest in Catalonia. But the interest shown in the exhibition is a promising sign for the future of the Real Estate market. With any luck such continuation of foreign investment will help to reinvigorate the market and maintain the ongoing popularity of property in Barcelona.
