The new look of the trendiest neighborhood of Sant Antoni
The new look of Sant Antoni, a neighbourhood in Barcelona built in the early 20th century, is located in the south of Eixample Esquerra. It is bordered by Gran Avenue and Parallel Avenue and was historically known as a working-class area.
From now on, Sant Antoni became one of the trendiest neighbourhoods of the city due to the gentrification from the 2000’s. Indeed, according to El Paìs, the value of a square meter increased by 30% from 2015 to 2019. This pushed locals to move out.
To fortify this transformation, the city created the « Superblock » also called « Supermanzana ». It is a project which aims to change several groups of streets into car-free places « full of life and green », according to the Inhabitat. This project enables to create more interaction between neighbours and improves the social life in Barcelona.
Living in Sant Antoni means that you are located in the centre of Barcelona without suffering from the overly crowded touristic area. You will enjoy a pleasant green space. Moreover, flats in Sant Antoni offer more space than in Gotico or Raval where streets are narrow.
