Can Paixano or La Xampanyeria

Also known as La Xampanyeria, in Catalan, this small place was founded in 1969. It is situated very close to Barceloneta beach, in the heart of the old city of Barcelona, la Ciutat Vella. It is not hard to find and you can always spot the crowd that gathers outside.

The specialties of Can Paixano are Jamon Iberico (Spanish ham), Queso semicurado (a special type of Catalan cheese) and Pan con tomate (bread with tomato). Even if these are not particularly elaborate dishes, they are very tasty, making it hard for you not to order a second portion! Their sandwiches are also delicious.

As drinking suggestions, we would strongly recommend the Cava Rosada, their typical pink sparkling wine. If you like what you taste in Can Paixano there is also a little shop where you can find a great variety of canned goods and cured meats and sausages, always guaranteeing the highest quality and selection. It is also possible to purchase their cavas and a selection of wines.

Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, bar from 09:00 to 22:30 and shop from 09:00 to 15:00 and 15:30 to 20:00. Closed Sundays.
